My first long gun target practice this year

It's getting warmer. Now I want to do some target practice with my heavy kicking long guns, before the weather turns too hot. I don't like the idea of my right collarbone getting hammered directly, repeatedly by the gun stock. The sweater I'm wearing now can act like a buffer zone to provide a bit of protection.

I brought two heavy hitters with me. A Chinese made 12 gauge shotgun with a short 12.5 inch barrel and an improved Lee Enfield (SMLE) rifle.

My Good Friday Target Practice

This was my third target practice of the year. I should have done it more often. Too bad I've been too busy with too much other activities in my life and my work.

It was a really Good Friday! Nice, warm fresh air on a sunny day, which is very rare these days in Vancouver. I am very tired of rainy and cold days.

I brought two semi-autos with me this time. A Glock 17 in 9mm and a Norinco 1911A1 in 45ACP. Two very different guns. One is classic, full metal and heavy; the other is modern, plastic and light.

My new Walther P1 and old faithful Taurus 608

This was my second range trip of the year. I took my new Walther P1 and old Taurus 608 with me. Both guns have 8 rounds capacity. But .357 magnum is way more powerful than 9mm. On the other hand, Walther P1 is light and small so it's a bit easier to handle. I enjoyed shooting both.

Targets were 15 meters away. I've shot 100 rounds 9mm 115 through the Walther P1. There's one FTE (fail to extract). It might have nothing to do with the gun. I might have accidentally relaxed my wrist when I fired that shot. One small problem with this gun is the direction of the case ejection. the spent cases ejected upward, not to the left or right. There was a hot case fell on my left eye and got stuck right between my left eye lid and my glasses. It was HOT! Next time when I shoot this gun, I need to wear a hat!

My first handgun target practice this year

This Saturday I got up earlier than usual so I can drive to the shooting range early. I wanted to do some handgun practice. The streets were quite empty. However, the shooting range was full of people! And I know why! In the past few years, Vancouver has lost two or three shooting ranges closer to the town. The closest one right now is 40 KM away. And this one is in danger as well. The residential housing are being built closer and closer to the range. Eventually, people will start to complain how noisy it is and demand its closure. It won't matter that the range has been there for the past half century. When that day comes, I may start to look for a job in US. I'm getting really serious on my new hobby:-)

My most accurate handgun shooting so far

Ruger MK III Range Result

I believe this is my most accurate handgun shooting so far. I can achieve 2 inch grouping 25 meters away, with just open iron sight! This Ruger Mark 3 standard model is my first handgun. I enjoyed it very much. Not only it's accurate, the gun is also cheap, and the ammo is cheaper!
