Shooting
This is a windy and cold day, a bit of rain here and there. I'm surprised by how busy it is in the main range. All the shooting positions are taken. The range officer is holding a piece of paper full of names. These are the unfortunate people who have to wait. Lucky for me, there is still a club member only pistol range available. This time I only have one pistol with me, my beloved Beretta 92FS. It never jams, shoots accurately, very easy to dissemble and clean. The grip fits my hand very well, not like my Glock 17. Glock 17 is almost a perfect gun if not because of its grip. In a combat condition, this can be fine. But in a target practice setting, when hundreds of shots are fired in one session, the pain it caused in the webbing between my thumb and index finger can be very annoying. As usual, I put targets 25 meters away, the maximum distance I can get from this pistol range. At first I shoot standing with both of my hands holding the gun. Later on, I switched to single hand shooting. The grouping is a bit larger and dispersed, but they are all punching through the targets, which are the size of human head. I'm very satisfied.

Norinco NP-40, one of the Chinese copies of the CZ75/85 series. It's heavy, roughly made, got a sub-standard finish. But it's quite accurate! My NP-40 has a very strong recoil spring, therefore, it's kind of hard to open the action at the beginning. To fix this, I kept the action open and stored it this way in Gun Safe for months!

It's getting warmer. Now I want to do some target practice with my heavy kicking long guns, before the weather turns too hot. I don't like the idea of my right collarbone getting hammered directly, repeatedly by the gun stock. The sweater I'm wearing now can act like a buffer zone to provide a bit of protection. I brought two heavy hitters with me. A Chinese made 12 gauge shotgun with a short 12.5 inch barrel and an improved Lee Enfield (SMLE) rifle.

This was my third target practice of the year. I should have done it more often. Too bad I've been too busy with too much other activities in my life and my work. It was a really Good Friday! Nice, warm fresh air on a sunny day, which is very rare these days in Vancouver. I am very tired of rainy and cold days. I brought two semi-autos with me this time. A Glock 17 in 9mm and a Norinco 1911A1 in 45ACP. Two very different guns. One is classic, full metal and heavy; the other is modern, plastic and light.

This was my second range trip of the year. I took my new Walther P1 and old Taurus 608 with me. Both guns have 8 rounds capacity. But .357 magnum is way more powerful than 9mm. On the other hand, Walther P1 is light and small so it's a bit easier to handle. I enjoyed shooting both. Targets were 15 meters away. I've shot 100 rounds 9mm 115 through the Walther P1. There's one FTE (fail to extract). It might have nothing to do with the gun. I might have accidentally relaxed my wrist when I fired that shot. One small problem with this gun is the direction of the case ejection. the spent cases ejected upward, not to the left or right. There was a hot case fell on my left eye and got stuck right between my left eye lid and my glasses. It was HOT! Next time when I shoot this gun, I need to wear a hat!
