Dominion Arms Grizzly Shotgun - 12.5

This is my latest toy, a "Dominion Arms" Grizzly Shotgun, 12.5" barrel with ghost ring sights. It can hold 4 shells in the tube magazine and one in the barrel, total 5 shells capacity.

I'm not quite sure why it's named "Grizzly". I'm quite sure I can kill a grizzly with it if I have to. Again, It's a cheap gun made in China. I'm surprised by it's nice finish, better than I expected. Ghost Ring plus short barrel, nice tactical configuration, good for home defense.

With any Chinese made gun, the first thing to do is to completely dis-assemble and clean it. This is a 100% Remington 870 clone, easy to dis-assemble and re-assemble. But there were two tricky steps made me sweat. One is to take off the magazine spring retainer. It was extremely tight. My screwdriver tip doesn't fit the open end on the magazine spring retainer. So it was hard to apply force. The second tricky part is to put the bolt carrier back. Here the trick is to remember to press the right shell latch first, then the left shell latch.

The range test was good. When firing slugs, it was louder and kicks harder than a normal length Remington 870. An old gentleman at the range came to me and said: "Bang! Bang! Bang!! This is loud!!" My chest and shoulder felt pain for two days. The thick recoil pad and my thick winter clothing didn't help much. The buck shot and bird shot pattern were nice. When using these, the effective range is probably under 15 meters. Slugs are quite accurate, the grouping was nice over a much longer distance.
