I've been setting up development environment using SpringSource Tool Suite (STS) and Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse (OEPE). I forgot to set up proxy in STS when I tried to download OEPE inside STS using eclipse update manager. No surprise, I got connection errors. So I entered all the proxy settings and tried to download OEPE again. Nope, still not working. Why, was it because my proxy setting was wrong? I wasted quite a bit of time checking the proxy setting with no result. Then after some digging, I found the solution. I opened windows explorer; went to folder C:\springsource\sts-2.5.2.RELEASE\p2\org.eclipse.equinox.p2.repository\cache, and deleted all the content there. Then I re-did the download, and it worked. This is bad, Eclipse should fix this problem. For example, at least provide a "clear connection cache" button somewhere in the Preference dialog so people may start to suspect there could be an issue with the cache. My workmates hadn't got a clue until I told them. They thought the OEPE download site was not working.
