The final four games at SFU

This morning, I was invited by Prof. Kyrylov to watch the final four games in his simulation class. It was a great event, reminded me of my old days of RoboCup competition.

These students are good. Their AI teams are a lot better than the default teams. I'm very impressed that they can accomplish this in just five weeks.

Each game was exciting from the beginning to the end, especially near the end. The scores were very close, it all depended on a decisive goal score in the last minute of the game. We don't see these a lot in the real soccer:)

We also got good valuable feedbacks and suggestions on TOS as an educational tool. One is to be able to run TOS simulation fast in the background. The other is for both sides to use the same coordinate system.

Also most students had a mixed feeling about using TOS in their course project. On the one hand, It was fun and exciting; on the other hand, it was difficult and hard-working. I used to be a student myself making AI teams for Robocup, I think I understand this feeling. I'm sure the fun part outweighs the hard-working part. The slogan on Prof. Kyrylov's Champion T-shirt says it all: "Obsessed? We prefer to call it extraordinary dedicated."
